Proximity to the Fire Can Determine the Degree of Fire Damage to Appliances

Kitchen fires often begin on one of the burners or in the oven. Many generate a great deal of oily smoke residue and heat. The heat can melt many plastic parts on the stove and bake some of the smoke residues onto the surface, making it difficult to remove.

SERVPRO provides fire damage restoration services in Amherst. Kitchen fires are often contained to the stove. However, the heat and smoke residues usually require a full cleaning of all surfaces in the kitchen. Damaged plastic components may need to be replaced if high heat conditions damaged them.

Nonporous materials such as:

  • Metal and enamel surfaces
  • Glass surfaces
  • Ceramics and dishes
  • Glossy painted surfaces
  • Formica and plastics not damaged by the high heat conditions

It can all be cleaned using soapy water and special cleaners for more difficult areas.
